Shatabdi Express
The word "Shatabdi" means centenary in Sanskrit and Hindi and the series of Shatabdi Express trains was launched in 1988 to commemorate the centenary of Pandit Jawahar Lal Nehru's Birthday. These are superfast passenger trains that connect Metro cities with other cities important for tourism, pilgrimage or business. They are day trains which return to the station of origin the same day. Counted amongst the prestigious trains in India along with the Rajdhani and the Duronto, the Shatabdi Expresses get second highest priority, after Rajdhani Expresses. The Shatabdi Express trains run over short to medium distances and usually have a maximum speed of about 130 km/h (81 mph). The 12001 Bhopal Shatabdi express is an exception and runs at a peak speed of 150 km/h (93 mph), which makes it the second fastest train in India after Gatimaan Express. In order to provide extra comfort to the passengers, these trains use the latest LHB Coaches.List of Shatabdi Express trains with their arrival and departure timings.
