Double-decker
In India millions of aspiring travelers each year are unable to travel to the destinations of their choice due to unavailability of seats in the existing trains. To end this problem, the Indian railways came up with the solution of running certain double-decker trains on the busiest routes. These Double Decker Express trains are mostly fully air-conditioned two floor express trains. They have the capacity to accommodate almost double the number of passengers as compared to ordinary coaches. Counted among the fast trains in India, they are accorded high priority. The superfast train Howrah – Dhanbad Double Decker Express was the first of its type to be introduced in the country in 2011. With its launch, India joined the league of Europe and North America that run double-decker trains. The Flying Ranee, a super fast express train that runs between Mumbai and Surat is one of the few non-AC double-decker trains in India.List of Double-decker trains with their arrival and departure timings.
